According to legend... Michael, the Archangel appeared to the bishop of Avranches--St. Aubert in 708 and instructed him to build a church on this rocky island. Aubert repeatedly ignored the angel's instruction, until St. Michael burned a hole in the bishop's skull with his finger.
The mount is depicted in the
Bayeux Tapestry which
commemorates the history of
FRANCE and the Norman conquest
in 1066.
The beautiful cloister, this beautiful
walkway surrounds the garden.
The priests would come here
to pray for 8 hours a day.
